This one-day course of study will define terms such as bariatrics, obesity, overweight, obese and grossly obese, discuss the pathophysiology of obesity, and the various health issues resulting in obesity as well as those health issues resulting from obesity. Participants will have opportunity to demonstrate management of various medical and trauma problems involving bariatric patients and appropriate lifting and moving techniques. This course is a very useful asset to any EMT-Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic, nurse or physician that works with the bariatric population.
